If you grew up in Maine in the 70’s you know all about ZaRex. Generations of New Englanders have enjoyed ZaRex since its introduction in the late 1930s. Zarex flavored drink concentrate has been a New England favorite for over 50 years.

It was a simple mixture: 1 part syrup + 7 parts water for a sweet, flavorful drink. It could be mixed with lemonade, or soda water. It was especially popular on snow cones (shaved ice in a paper cone). ZaRex fruit punches were especially popular at birthday parties.  The colored mustaches of children running around after drinking ZaRex was quite comical.

It appears that it is not being produced at this time but I will definitely keep watch. You can too here  BRING BACK ZAREX.   If you hear about it ….do let me know where to find it.

Welcome to the A-Z Blogging Challenge. This year I think it will bring a lot more people together with this crazy pandemic. Being quarantined means people will flock to the web looking for things to do. This is a great way to meet new friends/contacts. Maybe you will read something new, find a new hobby, or just be entertained by some random musings. Whatever the case may be, stay safe, drink plenty of liquids and enjoy the trip.

  1. Snow cones were a favourite childhood treat although we didn’t have Zarex. Colourful and sweet syrups were used by snow cone vendors to create rainbow treats. We called them barf ke gole in Hindi:)

  2. Never heard of it! We didn’t have that as kids in Colorado. Just Kool Aid, haha. ZaRex strikes me as an odd name for a kids’ drink! 🙂

  4. I don’t know Zarek, but then again, I did not grow up in Maine, so there you go. I bet you and your siblings and friends had good times enjoying Zarek snowcones!

We had Capri Sun in our childhood. Actually it’s still around.

Yes. I am visiting A to Z blogs in a hurry and find wide variety of things. Remembering Zarex is good. I also enjoyed various such drinks and marriages in summer meant lots of glasses of these types of cool things to drink.

Congratulations for successful A to Z Blogging.

This time I hope, Industrial engineering will be more familiar to A to Z bloggers.
What is Industrial Engineering? What is its Practice in Top Global Manufacturing Companies?

What industrial engineers do? They continuously strive to reduce the cost of items that people love to use and thus increase its affordability to more and more people.

  6. Given I’m from Michigan, I had never heard of Zarex before. It sounds like something I would have loved as a kid.
    Congrats on finishing the challenge.

Monstrous Love from A to Z

  7. I haven’t heard of that but I think we had something similar in powder form — the name escapes me now. Great way to finish the A to Z. Congrats!
